My dear friend Chloe Luo showed up as both moral support & as my street team for my 1st hour at the book fest...& poet laureate Luis Rodriguez , an old friend from the front lines of both poetry the fight for immigrant rights, was the 1st to buy my book!...the 1st of 7!...& the other 6 included a music therapist named Reg...& a new friend named Roy who just got out of prison himself a couple of months ago...& a criminal lawyer who just happened to walk by, without even knowing there was a book festival & had just enough cash to buy the book, & said he'd be flying somewhere tomorrow & couldn't wait to start reading my book promised to message me his responses to it...but even more encouraging than the book sales & the deep-souled conversations were the mother & daughter, Amy & Olivia, who are committed to being cycle-breakers together, to breaking the cycles of generational trauma, as the daughter later circled back & kept reading more & more of the book!, & also did an artist trade with a fellow poet Ryanna Hammond
