Yay! my 40th Amazon Review!

YAY! My 40th Amazon Review for my debut memoir Killing Justice! Just 10+ to go before Amazon considers me a real writer, lol..Here's the review:

This book was recommended to me by a neighbor and friend. I can see why. The book grabs you in the first few pages and takes us on the ride that is Kelly’s life. Each chapter weaves between different time periods, allowing Kelly’s character and growth to unfold much as a new friend’s life unfolds in many small revelations not easily connected at first.

Up close, this is a story about betrayal, compassion, perseverance and ultimately self-acceptance. Zoom out and we see the patterns through Kelly’s life. As a child of 7, Kelly wrote his first article on the beauty of integration. Living in a mostly, if not totally white neighborhood, perhaps it was more of a soul recognition rather than a conscious one. It’s no coincidence then, that as an adult he became an immigration attorney, helping to create the very type of community that he envisioned all those years ago. This sense of community and belonging was a blanket he strove to wrap himself in his whole life, mostly due to the circumstances of his first being a foster child and then becoming adopted.

Continuing with Kelly’s search for belonging and self-worth, we come to understand the choices that he made in trusting someone who would ultimately betray him. He leads us through his journey of self-realization from being a victim, self-blaming to understanding the workings of how his past has shaped his life. With the help of his faith and his own determination, Kelly is able to begin integrating the different aspects of himself to eventually heal and accept himself. Of course, this doesn’t happen without the universe putting him in a situation where he has to find his core being. True to himself, Kelly found the voice of his seven year old self and after years of writing and aspiring to be a writer, his voice lives on.
