Hanging out w/Destin Yori Daniel Crettin
hanging out with Destin Yori Daniel Cretton, director of the wonderful new Marvel series Wonder Man, after Wednesday night's screening at Vidiots. DYDC directed 3 of my fave indie films, Short Term 12, The Glass Castle, & Just Mercy, & is truly an "auteur" now entrusted with making Marvel movies & series, as he said in the Q&A that he's continuing to work with many of the same team with whom he made his debut feature I Am Not A Hipster for just $65k, & that sense of community

Hanging out w/Tatiana Maslany
hanging out with Emmy Award-winning actress Tatiana Maslany, after a Film Independent screening of the twistedly thrilling darkly comic whodunit of a new series she stars in "Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed"...LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this show, as Tatiana's character Paula's captivating adventures spring from her being consumed by chaos (which was the subtitle for the pre-prison chapters in my debut memoir Killing Justice), for while the chaos lead to my going to prison for my friend's

Bait is a darkly comic masterpiece!
Just finished binge watching this masterpiece of a series by Riz Ahmed, followed by a great Q&A, courtesy of the LA County Museum of Art, which I LOVED, as its a darkly comic exploration of the struggle between being yourself and belonging, which lies at the heart of both immigrant and adoptive and foster trauma, and so also lies at the heart of Killing Justice.

LOVED 2nd season finale of High Potential!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the 2nd season finale of High Potential, as really captures the willful blindness that can so easily become a fatal flaw in anyone, since, as Anais Nin reminds us "We see the world as we are, not as it is", which is also a central theme of my debut memoir Killing Justice.

Say Nothing/ Irish trauma
Say Nothing, as I watched episode 6 just now, the powerful, deeply moving hunger strike episode...Say Nothing is a gripping psychological crime drama that dives deep into the silence, secrets, and moral compromises surrounding violence and loyalty. Set against a tense political backdrop, the story explores how ordinary people become entangled in extraordinary acts—and how what they refuse to say can be just as powerful as what they do. With haunting performances and a slow-bu

Say Nothing & Irish Intergenerational Trauma
After having read the stunning book on which this series is based, I watched the series premiere last night and was blown away by its ability to introduce us to an immensely complicated and painful story about resistance, betrayal, loss, guilt, fury and regret...Northern Ireland is where the intergenerational trauma at the heart of my debut memoir Killing Justice began, as that is where my Loyal Orangeman maternal Grampa Bob's best friend was killed by the IRA...but Say Nothi

Craving 4 control & fear of being yourself
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this powerful, darkly comic miniseries, which is nominated for a Film Independent Spirit Award for Best Documentary, as Paul Reubens' craving for control and fear of being himself are also central themes of my debut memoir Killing Justice... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVx74C-RGDw

North of North,a comedy about finding your voice
LOVE this new show, which is nominated for a Film Independent Spirit Award for Best New Scripted Series, as it's a wildly entertaining comedy about finding your voice, as is my debut memoir Killing Justice.

LOVE THIS TRULY TRANSCENDENT SHOW!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this truly transcendent show, which finds humanity in the bleakest of spaces here and while it doesn’t absolve its characters of their sins, it does offer them a bridge to understand each other and a chance – no matter how brief – for redemption, as does my debut memoir, Killing Justice, and as will its upcoming screen adaptation, the working title for which is Orphan Rising.
