Hanging out w/Jaeden Martell
hanging out with Jaeden Martell, after watching his mesmerizing performance in Our Hero, Balthazar, a black-comic acid bath, a complex, whip-smart, empathetic work that is uncommonly perceptive on topics such as wealth inequality, growing isolation, and obsession with violence in the United States, a scathing, audacious look at our wayward and social media indoctrinated youth, their selfish and manipulative parents and America’s lunatic gun culture. Although this film's centr

Killing justice is in the library!
YAY! The hardcover of my debut memoir Killing Justice is now available in the County of Los Angeles Public Library system, and is physically available (or will be next Tuesday, when they reopen, lol) in the Culver City branch, (NESTLED BETWEEN ALLEN GINSBERG & Elizabeth Gilbert), thanks to the efforts of the head librarian there (another Kelly!)...so hopefully the LA Public Library and the Trinity Western University , (my undergrad), library will be the next libraries to carr

Irish intergenerational trauma in anemone
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this raw, emotionally devastating film, which I watched flying back from Vancouver last night...as it has the resonance of a deeply personal work. It’s a testimony in textures of what it feels like to venture willingly into someone else’s trauma, resentment, grief, and shame, and to just be with them there, in that trouble...The return of Day-Lewis is worth the price of admission... It’s a typically spine-tingling performance from the Oscar-winner, who does i

Wounds into Wonder in The Fall
poster for The Fall, which I just streamed on mubi, a cinematic masterpiece of visual storytelling, whose staggeringly beautiful and captivating visuals echo the brilliant and indelible visual grandeur of directors Akira Kurosawa and Alejandro Jodorowsky, as the 2 central characters transform their wounds into wonder, much as I did in Killing Justice, & as my team & I will be doing with its screen adaptation
