Audrey&Sophia Chang short film

So thrilled that the deeply moving, powerful inspiring short film Through My Eyes was selected for the Film Independent Future Filmmakers Showcase. Yesterday Audrey Chang (pictured here) had the opportunity to share why she chose to tell her sister Sophia’s (also pictured here) story through film. With only about 1,500 known cases of DDX3X syndrome worldwide, many people have never even heard of it. Audrey made Through My Eyes to raise awareness of DDX3X syndrome and help others see her sister beyond her diagnosis. For Audrey, like for me, filmmaking has become another form of advocacy and a way to share stories that might otherwise go unheard, as we are similarly working to adapt Killing Justice for the screen, and renaming it Orphan Rising, to offer a window into a world of foster kids and adoptees whose stories might otherwise go unheard.
